Looking to get into ivy league college?
I am about to enter my junior year of high school. My goal is to get into an ivy league school. I have consistently maintained a 98-100 average for my first two years and receive high 90s in all cles. I also take all honors cles and have taken the maximum number of APs for my junior year. I have yet to take the SATs/ACTs. My main concern is there are virtually no extra-curriculars I have interest in at my school. A major barrier in participating in the one I do (track) is the fact that my mom has no car, so getting around is extremely difficult. This is the reason why I was unable to do track in freshman year. Fortunately, my best friend took interest in it in sopre year and drove me home, so I was able to do it. I am an average sprinter looking to improve next year. I have neither achieved anything exceptional like winning national awards, nor do I hold any top-ranking positions in clubs (the only club I am a part of is National Honor Society). What I am relying on is my pion, determination, and character, traits which I hope to convey through my essays, interviews, and out-of-school work. I attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine this summer, and I plan to volunteer at hospitals, shadow doctors, and involve myself in medicine as much as possible because of my dream to be a neurosurgeon. This pion is something I hope will help me get into the schools I want. I also plan to start a public health project in my community. I may not have any exceptional achievements or extra-curriculars, but what I do have is pion and a strong-drive to succeed, traits which any college should be looking for. My question is what should I be looking to do to maximize my chances, aside from continuing to maintain high grades and performing well on standardized tests?
