The limits of imagination?

There's a saying that goes: imagination is limitless. But in reality there is a limit. There is a limited number of sensory inputs, and combination thereof, that we can have at a given time to construct imagination from. If we are given infinite time, the combinations can be infinitely complex, but even so, there is a limit of time.
