Homework help??? ocean please please help?

my teacher igned my cl to figure out what this thing was. she showed it to us. it lives 100-1000 meters into the ocean. its not a sea cuber. it is bony. it looks like there is cotton at the end of it. at first i thought it was a snake skin but now i know its not.
